A homeless sex offender known to frequent Newport Beach and Costa Mesa was sentenced to two years in state prison for assaulting a 14-year-old girl, authorities said.

Curtis Regulus, 40, pleaded guilty Tuesday to three felonies stemming from the June 19, 2010, incident in which he rubbed himself against the girl, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.

The girl first sat at the back of the bus after visiting her grandmother in Placentia, but later moved when Regulus made her uncomfortable by sitting behind her, prosecutors said.

Regulus then followed the girl to the front of the bus, sitting directly across from her, according to the D.A.

As the two exited the back exit of the bus in Anaheim, Regulus pushed himself against her, later rubbing himself against the child a second time as she waited to cross the street, prosecutors said, adding that Regulus pulled the girl toward him when she tried to push him away.

Regulus has a history of bumping against women with his pelvis and was arrested at a Juice It Up! on Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa in 2010. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail that time.

Regulus has been convicted six times for similar offenses, court records show.
