Queen Noor of Jordan will visit UC Irvine on May 2 as the featured speaker of the fifth installment of the Living Peace Series, the university announced Tuesday.

Moderated by Dalai Lama scholar Armaan Ahmed Rowther, the discussion titled, “Leap of Faith: A Conversation with Queen Noor,” will focus on global conflict prevention, according to a news release.

The event is co-sponsored by the university and the Center for Living Peace, Orange County. It will be held at 7 p.m. in the UCI Student Center’s Pacific Ballroom.

“In what we fear, in what we seek, in what we need and in what we love, we are all essentially on the same path,” Queen Noor said in a prepared statement. “That is the path to peace, security and justice, and I have great hope that, for the sake of our children, we can stay true to that path. I look forward to sharing this message at UCI, which has shown through its partnership with the Center for Living Peace that it shares these values.”

Tickets are free for UCI students and $8 for the public, UCI faculty and staff.

Past speakers in the series have included the Dalai Lama, Charlize Theron, Sir Richard Branson, and filmmakers behind the PBS SoCal documentary “Women, War & Peace.”
