Give games for good cause

Anyone with a still-wrapped Monopoly set, Uno deck or other game can donate them to a good cause until March 22.

The Newport Beach Police Assn. is collecting unused games at the Newport Beach Police Department, 870 Santa Barbara Drive, according to an association news release.

The association will donate them to Miracles for Kids, a nonprofit that will distribute them to kids who are hospitalized and need an activity to do with their families.

“Our members chose Miracles for Kids for the happiness it brings to children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses,” Jeff Munsell, president of the Newport Beach Police Assn., said in a prepared statement. “These brave kids are going through more than any of us can imagine. We know that smiles and laughter are strong medicine. Hopefully these games help in their recoveries.”

Anyone donating should look for a large gift-wrapped box labeled “Miracles for Kids” just inside the lobby’s front doors.

More information is available at Miracles for Kids website miraclesforkids.org.
