Assemblyman Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa) was appointed to an Assembly committee earlier this week.

Mansoor now serves as vice chairman of the Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy.

“I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve as vice chair of this very important committee,” Mansoor, a former Costa Mesa mayor, said in a prepared statement. “During these tough economic times, creating the right environment for job creation should be one of our top priorities as legislators.

“The state desperately needs to attract business investment, and I am excited to be part of the solution.”

The committee’s wide-ranging jurisdiction includes business advocacy of import-export trade, California-Mexico relations, development and expansion of new technologies, and women and minority business enterprises, according to its website.

Mansoor serves the 74th Assembly District, which includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and portions of Huntington Beach.
