A body found near a rock jetty was identified as that of an 82-year-old Costa Mesa man, authorities said.

Bodyboarders found Pedro Ruiz’s body near 40th Street on Sunday.

Newport Beach lifeguards and police responded to the scene about 2:30 p.m., according to a Newport Beach police news release issued Monday. They found the body on the rocks near the water line and brought it to shore.

Foul play is not suspected, police said Monday.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but no initial findings were released pending toxicology reports, according to the coroner’s office. It will take at least a month for results.

The body was fully clothed and bore no obvious signs of trauma, according to police. It appeared to have been in the water for a short period of time.
