Single bullet blasts through office window

Share

COSTA MESA — Police are investigating reports of a lone gunshot that possibly came from the Corona del Mar (73) Freeway and sent a bullet through a second-floor window of a Costa Mesa business Tuesday night.

Police said employees at the Costa Mesa vessel assist branch of the Boat Owners Assn. of the United States, 2755 Bristol St., reported a bullet striking their window about 6:21 p.m. The business is on the second floor of the business complex and the window faces east, about 100 or so yards from the southbound 73 Freeway.

The bullet, a 9 mm, was lodged into a wall inside the business, police said. There were three employees there at the time, and no one was injured. Given the trajectory of the bullet and where it struck, police speculated it came from a gunshot from the freeway. No arrests have been made.
