Concordia to host memorial for slain students

Share

Concordia University will host a memorial service at 11 a.m. Sunday for former students Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence, believed to be the first victims of ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner’s rampage.

Quan and Lawrence met at Concordia, where they both played basketball.

Quan, a 28-year-old assistant basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton, and Lawrence, a 27-year-old USC safety officer, were recently engaged before they were shot to death Feb. 3.

Authorities found them in Lawrence’s car in the parking structure of their condominium complex in Irvine.

Police believe Dorner targeted them because Quan is the daughter of retired LAPD Capt. Randy Quan, who represented Dorner at his firing hearing.

Their deaths sparked a massive manhunt for Dorner, who also killed Riverside Police Officer Michael Crain and San Bernardino Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremiah MacKay before being cornered in a cabin near Big Bear, where he apparently committed suicide.

Concordia representatives said there will be no cameras or video recording devices allowed on campus during the memorial.
