Police arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed into a Newport Beach home, police said Monday.

About 8:50 p.m. Sunday, police received a call that a vehicle plowed into a residence in the 2200 block of Cliff Drive, according to Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.

Police arrested Michael Joseph Anderson, 38, of Westminster, on suspicion of DUI, Lowe said.

The initial investigation shows the vehicle traveled south on Irvine Avenue before going through an intersection at Cliff Drive and then into the home, Lowe said.

Anderson was taken to Santa Ana’s Western Medical Center with unknown injuries.

No one at the home was injured, Lowe said.
