Man who soiled water bottle goes to jail

A man who twice ejaculated into his co-worker’s water bottle began serving 180 days in Orange County Jail Wednesday, a prosecutor said.

Michael Kevin Lallana, 34, will serve 180 days for two 2011 misdemeanor battery convictions, said prosecutor Brock Zimmon.

Lallana’s attorney asked for home confinement, a request Judge Walter Schwarm denied, Zimmon said.

Lallana and the co-worker met at Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Newport Beach. Twice while the two worked together he left semen-laced water bottles on his female co-worker’s desk — the first time in Newport, the second time in Orange.

In the first assault, the victim threw away the bottle after detecting an unusual taste, but the second time she took the bottle to a private laboratory and had it tested. When the results showed there was semen in her drinking water, she contacted authorities.

In 2011 Schwarm ordered Lallana to pay more than $27,000 in restitution to pay for lost wages, therapy, medical expenses and testing the water.

Lallana has been a registered sex offender since he was sentenced in 2011, Zimmon said.

He appealed the case long enough to avoid beginning his jail term, but lost.

The Orange County Register was first to report Lallana started his sentence.
