Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang will deliver the annual State of the City address at the Irvine Civic Center City Council Chambers on Tuesday.

A public reception begins at 5 p.m. in the Civic Center lobby and the address will follow at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. Reservations are not required for the free event.

Topics will address the city’s finances, education and recognition of businesses, Kang said Friday.

“When I was sworn in as mayor, the economy really hit hard and we had to go through a belt-tightening in every aspect of city government,” he said. “But, through it all, we utilized our resources very effectively and we are continuing the highest standard that the city has been providing to the community.”

This is Kang’s fourth and final address as mayor.

“There is still much work to be accomplished this year,” Kang said. “This is not a farewell, but a heartfelt reminder of the work to be done tomorrow and over the next four years.”
