Body found at Estancia considered an overdose

COSTA MESA — A Mission Viejo man found dead in the Estancia High School parking lot probably overdosed on drugs and was left there by acquaintances, police said Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Justin Daniel Wilson, 25. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner performed an autopsy Wednesday but will have to wait for toxicology results, which will take six to eight weeks, before determining a cause of death.

Over the weekend, an anonymous person called police about 3:30 a.m. Saturday from a pay phone off Harbor Boulevard and Adams Avenue and reported an unconscious man in the high school parking lot.

Responding officers found Wilson’s body dressed only in underwear, officials said.

Police no longer consider the death investigation a homicide.

Detectives would not comment on who Wilson might have been with before his death, with supervising detective Sgt. Ed Everett saying only, “I wouldn’t call them friends.”

Anyone with information on Wilson’s death is encouraged to call Everett at (714) 754-5395 or Detective Carlos Diaz at (714) 754-5097.
