Three dogs were rescued from a house fire in Westside Costa Mesa on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Twenty-one Costa Mesa Fire Department personnel from three engines and a truck responded just after 11 a.m. to 2074 Monrovia Ave., where they found smoke coming from the front bedroom, said Battalion Chief Fred Seguin.

It took 10 minutes to extinguish the fire, which was contained to the room where it started, he said.

It was unclear at first if the home was empty, Seguin said. The dogs were found during a search and taken to safety.

No injuries were reported, and the cause is still under investigation.

The estimated damage is $20,000.
