Super Bowl tickets to be auctioned

Share

CureDuchenne, a Newport Beach-based nonprofit that funds research into a form of muscular dystrophy, is auctioning off two tickets to Super Bowl XLVII, courtesy of Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.

The package, which is valued at $5,000, includes Matthews’ two terrace-level tickets to the game Feb. 3, plus four nights at the Best Western French Quarter Landmark Hotel, according to the nonprofit’s website.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy affects one in 3,500 boys and is the most common form of muscular dystrophy, the website says. Many victims of the disease do not live past their mid-20s.

The organization will also host its annual Champions to CureDuchenne gala Feb. 9 at Newport’s Balboa Bay Club.

At the event, CureDuchenne will honor former Anaheim Duck and recently hired assistant coach Scott Niedermayer and his wife, Lisa.

Stan Frazier, drummer of the rock band Sugar Ray and co-owner of Newport’s A Restaurant, will serve as guest chef at the event.
