Greer’s OC: Honor women and shop

Join the Alzheimer’s Assn., Orange County in celebrating caregivers at the Fourth Annual Visionary Women Luncheon with special guest Academy Award-winning actress Olympia Dukakis at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will honor outstanding caregivers in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia. Shop at an exclusive, luxury boutique during the luncheon and enjoy delicious desserts afterward in the boutique. Tax-deductible tickets cost $100 per person. Proceeds from the luncheon will support the essential services and programs that are delivered to local families at no cost.

Komen for the Cure

The Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure is coming up Sunday at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. In a special appearance, Susan G. Komen for the Cure founder Nancy Brinker will be at the Race to speak to attendees about the promise that started it all. The annual walk is celebrating breast cancer survivors and remembering those who have lost their battle with the disease. The early 5K run/walk steps off at 7:30 a.m.; the survivor tribute is at 9 a.m. and the second run/walk starts at 9:45 a.m.

Participants who register for “In the Pink” VIP status will enjoy various perks on Race day, including exclusive access to the VIP area. Pre-registration is recommended; to register and for more information, visit https://www.komenoc.org.

Funds raised support the Komen vision of a world without breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of funds raised will provide breast health services in Orange County, and 25% will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research. Seven days of premier dining

Orange County Restaurant Week is launching Sunday, giving you an opportunity to dine at top restaurants (Sunday through Oct. 2) at great prices. More than 100 restaurants in Orange County will participate in this highly anticipated culinary event.
