Happy New Year from the Newport Beach Public Library! The beginning of each year brings the opportunity for renewal and a commitment to bettering yourself. People often make resolutions to improve themselves in many avenues of life, either physically, spiritually, or even financially. In the literary world, this time of year has a flurry of new fitness regimen publications. The Newport Beach Library is always on trend and has lots of fun new books to choose from to make that commitment to a healthy life.

“Fitness Made Simple: The Power to Change your Body, the Power to Change your Life” by John Basedow: A great way to start, this book introduces a physical improvement program that is based on a complete nutrition and exercise plan, and includes motivational quotes, stories from successful users, and a even a workout DVD.

“Gold Medal Fitness : A Revolutionary 5-week Program” by Dara Torres: An Olympic champion counsels women of all fitness levels on the workout secrets and stretches of professional athletes. She also explains how to gain optimum benefits at midlife and beyond.

“Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness” by Mario Lopez: In the world of celebrity authored fitness guides, it certainly appears Mario Lopez practices what he preaches. His book contains a workout program that explains how to pursue fitness productively and enjoyably. It is structured in a three-stage guide that incorporates exercises from a variety of disciplines designed to keep practitioners motivated and committed.

“Naked Fitness: The Proven 28 day Weight Loss Program for a Slimmer, Fitter, Pain Free Body” by Andrea Metcalf: This brand new book claims it will help you to lose weight, tone up, alleviate aches and pains, eat well, and live a healthier, more productive lifestyle. “Super Body, Super Brain: The Breakthrough Ten Minute Workout” by Michael Gonzalez-Wallace:

“The Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises” by Adam Campbell: This reference guide contains 612 exercises for every part of a woman’s body, along with more than one hundred workout routines, a four-week diet plan, and a listing of twenty-five fat-fighting snacks. The library also has the companion book titled, “The Men’s Health Big Book of Exercise: Four Weeks to a Leaner, Stronger, More Muscular You!”
