Costa Mesa police mounted the checkpoint in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol, the Police Department’s release said. As many as 611 vehicles were screened out of 2,127 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint. Nine drivers underwent field sobriety tests and 12 had their licenses investigated.
