COSTA MESA — Microsoft plans to open a second Orange County location at South Coast Plaza Thursday with a visit by reality TV power couple Lamar Odom and Khloé Kardashian, a store spokeswoman confirmed.

The opening will allow Microsoft to compete at the retail level with the Apple Store location at South Coast Plaza.

The 4,900 square-foot store is located on the first floor between the Jewel and Carousel courts, and will feature a selection of PCs running Windows software, Xbox consoles and the Xbox Kinect, Windows phones and a variety of software and accessories, spokeswoman Lindsey Kociela said Wednesday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 10 a.m. at the store. The first 150 people in line will receive two tickets to see and meet Selena Gomez, who will perform a special concert at South Coast Plaza on Saturday for the opening of the store. The following 800 will also receive a pair of tickets, but will not be able to meet the singer.

From 6 to 8 p.m., visitors to the store can play Kinect with Laker star Odom and his wife, Kardashian, on a first-come basis, Kociela said.

This is Microsoft’s third store in California and second in Orange County. The other O.C. location is at The Shops of Mission Viejo.

The grand opening also includes giving away a total of $1 million in software grants to Costa Mesa nonprofit Girls Inc., Irvine nonprofit Project Tomorrow and the Capistrano Unified School District.

In other news at South Coast Plaza, the Lego flagship store opened March 9 on Level 1 in the Carousel Court and Origins is scheduled to reopen it’s newly remolded store in its original location on Level 2 in the Carousel Court, said center spokeswoman Beverly Morgan.
