Plane crashes, 3 killed after leaving JWA

BARSTOW — A woman and two children were killed when a small plane that departed from John Wayne Airport crashed and caught fire in Barstow on Sunday, authorities said.

The Cessna 210 aircraft was heading from Orange County to Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas when it crashed around 12:40 p.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.

Officials believe the plane was attempting to land at the Barstow-Daggett Airport, according to Gregor.

The killed female pilot, along with one boy and one girl

have not been identified. Authorities said their bodies were burned beyond recognition.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the National Transportation Safety Board are now investigating the crash.

The plane was registered to a company in Truckee, according to the Orange County Register.
