Facebook page for child abduction cases launched
The Orange County district attorney’s office has created a Facebook page for ongoing child abduction cases it is pursuing, the office announced Wednesday.
The D.A.’s Child Abduction Unit has a 100-case workload, with six featured on the Facebook page, according to the D.A.’s office.
The cases on the site include children believed to be in Mexico, Japan, Zambia, Kansas City, Mo., and other unknown locations, and many feature age progression photos of what children abducted years ago might look like in the present day, the D.A.’s office said in a news release.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the most recent case featured was that of Keisuke Collins, who was abducted in 2008 and is believed to be in Japan.
A case where the children were recovered is also currently featured on the page.
In 2009, Javon Lynn Ristick lived with her two children under the supervision of the Social Services Agency, but then fled possibly to New Jersey, according to information on the site.
Last month, Orange County authorities were notified that Ristick was arrested on burglary charges in New Jersey and the children may have been en route back to Southern California. They were found at a home with their aunt, uncle and grandmother and were taken into social services custody.
“The Child Abduction Unit of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office investigates cases of missing children when the suspected abductor is a family member,” the Facebook page reads. “These complicated cases may call for international investigation when the child is taken to another country. … The primary goal is to return missing children to their legal guardian through the enforcement of civil court orders.”
