Bachmann coming to Costa Mesa

Republican presidential candidate and Tea Party darling Michele Bachmann will speak at the Orange County Fairgrounds on Friday, the Orange County GOP announced Wednesday.

The Minnesota congresswoman is scheduled to speak at 9 a.m. in front of the fairgrounds box office for about 15 minutes. The free public event is scheduled to last an hour. Parking is $5 at the fairgrounds.

Bachmann’s campaign has lost steam since Texas Gov. Rick Perry entered the race in August. Perry entered the fray as Bachmann’s candidacy peaked, when she won the Iowa straw poll in mid-August.

Perry, also a Tea Party favorite, spoke in Newport Beach last week on his way to a private fundraiser.
