Family of missing kayaker seeks public’s help

Family members of a missing Huntington Beach kayaker are handing out flyers, continuing the search for the 53-year-old man who hasn’t been seen since Aug. 3.

The family of Marc Cross created a Facebook page and flyers in an effort to locate the missing man, who friends and family members describe as an avid athlete who was familiar with the water.

Cross’s sister, Susan Friesen, was coming from Northern Santa Barbara to meet with her brother’s ex-wife, niece and nephew, who already handed out flyers Saturday.

Friesen described her brother as “addicted to the water” and friends said he was an athletic waterman.

On the “Please help find Marc Cross Facebook” page, one commenter said friends would continue the search on Channel Drive on Newport Beach at 10 a.m. Saturday, near where Cross was last seen.

“I hope that the kayak and or his body are found,” Friesen said. “Nobody knows what’s going on with him.”
