He surfed, was a lifeguard, loved camping in the mountains and desert, and was a skilled fisherman. He loved the beauty of nature and captured it in his paintings of the ocean and scenes from his camping trips.
He attended the University of Southern California from 1949-1952 and graduated with a B.S. in Commercial Aviation. He also earned an A.A. from Santa Ana College, attended Pasadena Art Center School and earned the CLU, ChFC, and AEP from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Penn.
Anderson served in the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army. In WWII he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, president and director of the South Coast Water District board, and was appointed to the Orange County Board of Education in 1971.
He spent 10 years as an aluminum salesman at Alcoa, and nearly 40 years as a life insurance estate planner at Connecticut General and New England Financial. In 2001 he retired and devoted his time to taking care of his wife who has Parkinson’s disease.
