On Dec. 3, Hagerstown City Councilman Don Munson was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Long Meadows meeting. He talked about improving the parks in the area around the American Legion on Northern Avenue. He said publicly accessible parks are conducive to improved public health, since they provide residents an area to exercise, recreate and play. The Rotary Club of Long Meadows maintains the park on Northern Avenue as part of its community service that Rotary Clubs provide to the communities in which they are a part. A committee is studying the feasibility of connecting Mills Park and the Rotary Club Park through the American Legion property. Improvements to the area might include exercise trails, walking bridges over Hamilton Run and improved lighting and signage.
