Pet of the Week

What Betty enjoys most are belly rubs. Actually, this girl is good-natured about everything, including baths. She is gentle, friendly and affectionate — eager to climb onto your lap if you invite her. Betty responds to basic commands, behaves well around other dogs and is not a barker. Volunteers find she is easy to handle on leash, even for those more accustomed to walking smaller breeds. After arriving as a stray in March, Betty was treated for a skin condition over several weeks. While she’s fine now, she may require monitoring to prevent a recurrence. Healthy, spayed and housebroken, this 2 1/2-year-old pit bull terrier mix is well beyond the challenges of puppyhood. Betty was honored to greet the City Council at Monday’s meeting. She is now ready to become your companion, with adoption fees discounted 50% all week, when you mention this announcement.
