4-day Fountain Valley Summerfest kicks off Thursday

Fountain Valley will open its Recreation Center & Sports Park on Thursday to summer revelers flocking to carnival rides, food and musical entertainment during the four-day Fountain Valley Summerfest.

The festival, which will run through Sunday, will feature food trucks, rides for $1 and Inflatapalooza, a field full of inflatable bounce houses for children. Sunday will showcase American Diving Dogs, during which dogs of all sizes, breeds and abilities will jump off a platform into a pool of water to retrieve a toy.

General parking will be free. Parking at nearby lots will cost $5, with free shuttle service available.

Summerfest hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. The sports park is at 16400 Brookhurst St.

Ride wristbands are $25. Proceeds will support the Fountain Valley Community Foundation.
