Who could resist this wistful expression? Max, an 8-year-old beagle mix, was reluctantly surrendered in February by his lifelong caregiver. His former owner describes him as loving and calm.

Fond of walks, cuddles and playing with children, Max is house-trained and responds to basic commands. Other than needing normal dental attention and ear cleaning, he is healthy and neutered. At 45 pounds, Max is large for his breed but generally well-proportioned. All beagles are prone to overeating, so their diets and exercise must be monitored carefully.
