4-day Lido Boat Show opens today: latest models, and an ‘express yacht’

With the 36th annual Lido Boat Show about to begin, organizer Duncan McIntosh was buzzing about at Lido Marina Village on Tuesday morning.

Boats were being added and pulled from the show, but McIntosh was hopeful that more than 200 vessels will be on display when the four-day show opens Thursday afternoon. The number, bigger than usual for a fall show, could rival the roughly 215 boats shown by brokers at the Newport Boat Show in the spring.

There were “boats coming in at me from every direction,” McIntosh said.

“It’s a like a moving jigsaw puzzle,” he said in a phone interview while taking a break from the heat to drink a soda and prop up his feet.

Among the boats bobbing in the water was a new design from Hinckley. The “express yacht,” called Talaria 43, will make its public debut at the show, sporting an aft enclosure between indoor and outdoor seating that can be retracted with the push of a button.

It isn’t the only new product on display, which McIntosh called a sign of an improving market.

Beneteau’s Monte Carlo 4 model also will be shown for the first time in the United States. The motor boat has a glass door to the living space that can disappear, along with other features such as a salon for six, two cabins with natural light and a “generous sun pad,” according to a news release.

The show also will feature a “sailboat row” of new and used vessels.

Other boats expected at the exhibit include a preowned Symbol “High Flight” from Kusler Yachts, a custom 2015 Island Packet 485 from Suncoast Yachts and a Johnson Flybridge Motoryacht from Crow’s Nest Yachts.

With construction going on at Lido Marina Village, sandwiches and refreshments will be provided on – what else? – a paddle boat.
