Pet of the Week

Share

Mike Allen, a valued Community Animal Network volunteer and Costa Mesa resident, died last week, leaving a void in foster care and leaving behind his own cats too.

Pictured is Allen’s favorite rescue cat, Chicken. Eight years of living outdoors and being mistreated by hefty tomcats led to the name. For the last six months, Chicken has been cared for by Allen, who took care of the cat’s medical needs, including major dental extractions and daily fluid therapy.

Allen was an animal lover who gave his weekends to help at the Fashion Island pet adoption events. To honor Allen, cat lovers can make donations in his name, help with feeding and kennel duties, or foster cats in need of housing.
