Applications are being accepted for the first invitational sculpture exhibition, which will showcase up to 10 sculptures in the Newport Beach Civic Center park.

Chosen pieces will be on display for two years beginning this summer, according to a news release.

The selection committee will include up to three Newport Beach arts commissioners, two local arts professionals and one art conservator.

The group will evaluate pieces for artistic merit, durability and relationship within the proposed social and physical environment, among other criteria. The City Council will give final approval.

Winners will receive between $2,500 and $6,000 to help with transportation and insurance costs and fees.

Arts Orange County will help with the selection and installation of the artworks, with assistance from Green Public Art Consultancy.
