National Choreographers Initiative performs Saturday in Irvine

Share

The National Choreographers Initiative, an annual dance workshop that features new works by accomplished choreographers, will present its latest production Saturday at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.

The program, run by an independent advisory committee, holds rehearsals at UC Irvine dance studios during the summer. The choreographers this year, Barry Kerollis, Gabrielle Lamb, Philip Neal and Garrett Smith, worked for three weeks with 16 dancers, who hail from ballet companies across the country.

“It’s really quite a unique project,” said artistic director Molly Lynch, who teaches dance at UCI. “There’s really nothing like this that goes on someplace else.”

The performance begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, and tickets are $32 for general admission and $20 for students. VIP tickets are also available for $60. For more information, visit https://www.nchoreographers.org.
