Community Animal Network is still accepting donations for Bluto, the dog we have profiled before that belongs to a homeless veteran.

The 95-pound German Shepherd has severe hip dysplasia that makes it uncomfortable to walk without his monthly medications Rimadyl and Dasuquin.

Donations already have covered his X-rays, exams, neutering and the last four months of medications that have helped Bluto feel better. Some extra expenses totaled $700 and a lift harness was purchased to help him get up.

The network hopes to raise enough money to provide for Bluto’s medications for the rest of the year at $132 a month.

Some readers sent Bluto’s owner notes thanking him for his service to our country and he also received a coffee house gift card.

Daily life for the homeless is full of trials. However, having the company of a pet that loves them unconditionally makes life seem a bit better.

Community Animal Network is a veterinary medical rescue that provides treatments, procedures and surgeries to local animals that other rescues may turn away because of costs.
