Beautiful Siamese cats Madonna and Cher have been diagnosed with a condition of the mouth called stomatitis. The symptoms often go unnoticed by cat owners until the gum disease has developed into this chronic condition.

Early detection of stomatitis by an experienced veterinarian and use of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medications can in some cases stop stomatitis from advancing. Biotene oral antiseptic is an enzyme treatment that is vet-recommended for daily management of the early symptoms of stomatitis.

Sadly, many veterinarians miss the diagnosis of stomatitis and prescribe teeth-cleaning as a solution to visible gingivitis, thus advancing the untreated painful condition of stomatitis to include signs of bad breath and trouble chewing, which can lead to weight loss.

Advanced stomatitis treatment requires oral steroid treatments, dental exams every six months and tooth to full-mouth extractions.

Stomatitis is a very painful condition. If your animal has red, inflamed gums and is hiding, or acts quiet or subdued, it may need to be examined.

To encourage the adoption of Madonna and Cher with a disclosure of stomatitis, Community Animal Network seeks to raise money to pay for the veterinary treatment costs with donations.
