Pet Of The Week

Audi

The holiday crowds have arrived at the Fashion Island pet adoptions, sponsored by Russo’s Pet Experience, and the rare female buff orange kittens Frosty and Spice were adopted together last weekend as we had hoped.

The siblings Nutmeg and Itsy are still awaiting the perfect home.

Our beautiful silver tabby Maine Coon-like kitten named Audi (pictured) has had her hind leg splinted for the last month, recovering from a fracture of her paw toes. Her paw may have been caught in the adoption cage bars as a child volunteer pulled her out of the cage.

Nevertheless, Audi enjoyed using her splint as she ran sideways around the walls of her foster family’s home. She never slowed down a bit from playing with her siblings Lexus, Beamer, Aston and Mercedes. After playtime, she gave kisses and snuggles, too.

Call (949) 759-3646 to meet Audi and the other “car” kittens or Melody, our shelter rescue dog, or meet them all this weekend from noon to 4 p.m.

We were graced with six donation checks supporting our work with local animals this week tallying $550. We now have raised $2,652 toward our New Year’s goal of $10,000 since September.

However, since September we have paid $ 2,673 on rescue animals veterinary bills and $2,066 to veterinary pharmaceutical companies for supplies (deworming, ear mite treatments and flea treatments).

We still need $4,009 to pay the balance of the last quarter’s veterinary medical and supplies costs for 2010.

Please consider supporting local animals this holiday by mailing your checks to Community Animal Network, P.O. Box 8662 Newport Beach, CA, 92658 and memo your check “Help Local Animals” nonprofit tax ID 33-0971560.
