College Fair

Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa, will have a college fair featuring recruiters from the University of California, Cal State University and other campuses. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the OCC Watson Hall Courtyard. The event is free and is also open to high schoolers and members of the community.

Christopher Cox

Christopher Cox, the former chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and ex-Republican congressman, will give a presentation, “Unhealthy Balance Sheets: The New Systemic Risk,” at a meeting of the Risk Management Assn. of Orange County. Udi Aloni at UCI

Udi Aloni, the Israeli filmmaker, theater director, writer and activist, will talk about Arab-Israeli issues from 5 to 7 p.m. in Room 135 at UC Irvine’s Humanities Instructional Building. The talk will be free and open to the public.

Playtime Symposium

A panel of experts will talk about the importance of recreation for children’s development at Pretend City Children’s Museum, 29 Hubble, Irvine. The “Power of Play Symposium” is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.pretendcity.org.

‘Tyrannosaur’

GOP Women’s Luncheon

Ann McElhinney, a journalist and filmmaker, will be the keynote speaker for “Environmentalism: Enemy of the Poor” at a Newport Harbor Republican Women luncheon. Fashion Bloggers’ Soirée

The Orange County Fashion Assn. will present a panel of fashion bloggers and writers, including Heather Petrey, Christopher Luu, Sandra Mendoza-Daly and Michelle Tyree, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Hanford Hotel, 3131 Bristol St., Costa Mesa. The style bloggers and writers will talk about how they started their fashion blogs and how they became successful.

The Junior League’s Christmas Co. comes back to the O.C. Fair & Event Center for its 36th year with more than 90 unique vendors. Additional events include Kimberly Fowler with No Om Zone from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday for $45 per person. Zov Karamardian, owner of Zov’s Bistro and three other namesake restaurants, will demonstrate the preparation of delectable dishes from her latest book “Simply Zov” for $35 per person from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. “Fancy Nancy” author Jane O’Conner and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will read their latest book in the series at a posh tea party from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Entry to this event is $28 per adult and $39 per child.

League of Women Voters Luncheon

Cal State University L.A. Professor Nathan Gonzalez will give a keynote speech about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at a League of Women Voters of Orange Coast luncheon.
