Athletic Awards Breakfast

The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce presents the 51st annual Athletic Awards Breakfast. Newport Harbor High alum and two-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will be the special guest speaker. Eco Night at Davis

Davis Magnet School, 1050 Arlington Drive, Costa Mesa, holds its second Ecology Night of the school year from 6 to 8 p.m.. The event is open to anyone in the community.

Free Corkage Thursdays

‘Green Tie Exhibit’

The Environmental Nature Center, 1601 16th St., Newport Beach, has opened an art show featuring mixed media, sculpture and photography. Art pieces from the show will be auctioned off June 2 at a “Green Tie Affair” auction, with proceeds going to the ENC. Co-Parenting Classes

Mariners Church, 5001 Newport Coast Drive, Irvine, presents a series of classes on co-parenting, led by Elizabeth Bader, founder of Positive Co-Parenting. The classes are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in May, and a day-long session will be given from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 2. Local author to appear at Newport bookstore

Adam Prince, a class of 1993 graduate from Newport Harbor High School, will read from his new collection of short stories, “The Beautiful Wishes of Ugly Men,” as well as sign copies of the book. The event is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Lido Village Books, 3424 Via Oporto, Newport Beach.

Jazz Picnic

The Newport Harbor High School Sailor Jazz Band presents a Jazz Picnic Under the Bell Tower from 6 to 8 p.m. on the lawn under the school’s bell tower, 600 Irvine Ave., Newport Beach. The concert is free.

Shabbat Service

Temple Bat Yahm, 1011 Camelback St., Newport Beach, holds its Friday night Shabbat Service at 6 p.m. The service will be led by Rabbi Mark S. ‘Junk in the Trunk’

The Costa Mesa Senior Center holds the “Junk in the Trunk” fundraiser. Pancakes and sausages will be available for $5 from 8 a.m. to noon, and the flea market is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is in the parking lot at the Senior Center, 695 W. 19th St. Members pay $10 to reserve a spot and non-members pay $15. Breakfast with Navy SEALs

As part of its Distinguished Speaker program, the Orange County Council of the Navy League of the United States will host a presentation by Navy SEALs assigned to Team Six, the most elite unit in the Navy’s special forces wing. The event will follow a full buffet breakfast and social starting at 8:30 a.m., and is at the Costa Mesa Hilton, 3050 Bristol St. Cost to attend is $25 per person.
