Benefit Shopping Event

O.C. philanthropist Julia Argyros and 3 Moms on a Mission will host a shopping party at the Bally store at South Coast Plaza to benefit Operation Smile. The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres service, with 10% of proceeds from sales going toward Operation Smile. A bag from Bally’s Moritz collection will be raffled off. Grief Share Recovery Group

The Newport Center United Methodist Church will offer a support group for people affected by the loss of a loved one. The group meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sundays. Book Signing

Thompkin Cellars, 1954 Placentia Ave., No. 107, Costa Mesa, will host a wine tasting and “Plastic Ocean” book signing. The event will raise funds to benefit the Algalita Marine Research Institute. L.A. Phil at SCFTA

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County will present guitarist Pepe Romero and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a concert at 8 p.m. at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, 615 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. However, because conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos has fallen ill, he will be replaced for this performance by conductor Christoph König, Philharmonic Society of O.C. officials announced.
