Homeless in Costa Mesa

Becks Hayhoe, who sits on the City Council-appointed Costa Mesa Task Force on Homelessness and is a member of the Costa Mesa Churches Consortium, will give a presentation about homelessness in the city, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Mesa Verde United Methodist Church, 1701 W. Baker St., Costa Mesa. The program will be free and open to the public.

Zen and the Art of Ikebana

The Zen Center of Orange County will offer a meditative floral (Ikebana) workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $35, plus an additional charge of $90 for materials. Pre-registration, which is required, can be done at https://www.zcoc.org.

A Cappella ‘Sing Off’

The SoCal Vocals and MEDleys, a cappella groups from USC and UCLA, will square off in a “Sing Off” in Newport Beach in a show to benefit the Young Singers of Orange County, a nonprofit children’s choir. Oscar Night

Nello Cucina, the Italian restaurant at South Coast Plaza’s Crystal Court, will host “Your Choice for The Oscars,” a fundraiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Southern California. Large TV screens will be showing the Academy Awards while the restaurant will be serving a three-course buffet dinner. Tickets cost $25 each. The evening will feature an Oscar trivia contest. Grief Share Recovery Group

The Newport Center United Methodist Church will offer a support group for people affected by the loss of a loved one. The group meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sundays until May 27.
