Pet of the Week

Share

It was just more than seven years ago that a young couple adopted a beautiful flame point Siamese kitten named Moochi at the Fashion Island pet adoption event.

Last week, a disturbing call was received from the mother of the young woman who adopted Moochi many years ago. Community Animal Network was told by the mother that her daughter moved back home with the cat and her baby, and stated that she was unwilling to have Moochi live in her home.

To make things even more difficult, the family was unwilling to drive Moochi to and from the Fashion Island adoption events to find him a new home, or even donate to help with the medical costs needed to ready him for adoption.

When the original rescuer, Shelly Callahan, was contacted by Community Animal Network, she was willing to take Moochi back into her home and care for him through the adoption process.

Similar to a Mercedes dealer preparing a “pre-owned” Mercedes for market, Community Animal Network prepares animals for adoption at a cost of $250 to $750. Our most common veterinary expenses are dental exams, which include x-rays and the extractions of bad teeth, so we appreciate your help with donations.

Mail your checks to Community Animal Network, P.O. Box 8662, Newport Beach, CA 92658, memo, “Moochi’s Rescue,” Tax ID 33-0971560.
