For years, New York’s American Ballet Theatre has been a regular presence at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Orange County, bringing premieres and touring productions to audiences in Costa Mesa.

Starting in 2015, the renowned ballet company will become an even more regular guest when its production of “The Nutcracker” directed by Alexei Ratmansky becomes an annual engagement.

Officials at the Segerstrom said that ABT’s “Nutcracker” will have 14 performances from Dec. 10 to 20, 2015. After that, the production is expected to return to Costa Mesa each year around the holiday season.

The Ratmansky-directed “Nutcracker” debuted in 2010 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The production is underwritten by billionaire David H. Koch, who has been a regular supporter of ABT.

“With these annual performances of ‘The Nutcracker,’ we look forward to solidifying a permanent partnership with Segerstrom Center for the Arts,” said Rachel S. Moore, ABT’s chief executive officer, in a release.

The Segerstrom Center for the Arts hosts premiere dance companies from around the world as part of its regular season offerings.
